Tax Senior
We are seeking an experienced Tax Senior to lead client tax engagements, ensure accurate and timely preparation and review of federal and state tax returns, and provide technical guidance to junior staff. The Tax Senior will manage a portfolio of individual and business clients, perform tax research, communicate complex tax issues to clients, and help drive process improvements to ensure compliance and high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple tax engagements from planning through filing, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met
- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals (Form 1040) and businesses (Forms 1065, 1120, 1120S) with a focus on accuracy and compliance
- Supervise, mentor, and review work of junior tax staff and seasonal team members, providing constructive feedback and training
- Conduct technical tax research, interpret tax law changes, and apply findings to client situations
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, explain tax positions, resolve issues, and recommend tax planning strategies
- Coordinate with engagement partners and other service lines to address complex client needs and ensure seamless delivery
- Identify and implement process improvements and leverage tax technology to increase efficiency and reduce risk
- Assist with tax planning projects, projections, and estimated tax calculations
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in public accounting or corporate tax, including prior experience as a Tax Senior (required)
- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120S (preferred)
- EA or CPA designation preferred (nice to have)
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax rules, regulations, and filing requirements
- Proven experience supervising and reviewing staff work, with strong coaching and mentoring skills (Prep and Review experience a plus)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel; comfortable learning new technologies
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
Masters in Taxation or related advanced coursework is a plus - High ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality and professional responsibility
