Senior Manager, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting
Location: Northbrook, IL
Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in office)
A multi-billion-dollar manufacturer is seeking a Senior Manager, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting to join its corporate accounting team. This is a highly visible role for a CPA who enjoys complex accounting issues, SEC reporting, executive exposure, and leadership. The position offers meaningful ownership, direct interaction with senior finance leadership, and the opportunity to influence accounting decisions across a large public-company environment.
Responsibilities- Lead preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K and 10-Q
- Own financial statement disclosures, footnotes, tie-outs, and external reporting support schedules
- Research technical accounting matters and prepare accounting memoranda on complex issues
- Evaluate the accounting impact of acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, and other strategic transactions
- Support implementation and interpretation of new accounting pronouncements
- Oversee goodwill, intangible asset, and impairment analyses
- Partner with Finance, Operations, Legal, Treasury, and executive leadership on accounting and reporting matters
- Maintain and enhance corporate accounting policies and procedures
- Coordinate with external auditors and internal audit teams
- Develop and mentor accounting professionals
- Identify and implement process improvements within the reporting function
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA required
- 7+ years of accounting experience
- Strong SEC reporting experience, including Forms 10-K and 10-Q
- Demonstrated technical accounting expertise under U.S. GAAP
- Experience preparing accounting research and technical position papers
- Knowledge of topics such as business combinations, revenue recognition, stock compensation, goodwill, impairment, and SOX compliance
- Leadership or people-management experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with in large public-company environments
- Experience with large ERP, consolidation, or financial-reporting systems
- Combination of public accounting and industry experience
- Big Four or large public accounting foundation
- Experience supporting complex reporting and corporate accounting functions
- Exposure to enterprise reporting, consolidation, or planning systems
- Salary: $160,000 - $190,000
