** job summary
** camp neeka consists of two 4-week therapeutic intensive day programs for children ages 7-16. The first four weeks are in waukegan and the second four weeks are in northbrook. These camps provide a supportive environment for children while they build social and emotional skills through therapeutic activities. Camp neeka is looking for a summer staff member with a social service background or interest in social services
** essential responsibilities and metrics
** fun and supportive counselors are a crucial part of the therapeutic experience. They encourage active, social and healthy lives by:
* leading children through organized activities and events
* act as a positive role model
* caring for attendees’ individual needs
* build investment and excitement through their own energy and relationships with attendees
* collaborating with staff members to best support attendees
* complete documentation and track individual’s social-emotional growth
* establish a relationship with each child and understand their needs and treat each child with respect and dignity
* assume responsibility for safety of campers
* problem solves through situations and seek assistance when necessary
* know where campers are, at all times(this job description may not be all-inclusive and camp counselor is expected to perform all other duties as assigned and directed by the lead clinician## qualifications
** qualifications
* ** must attend orientation/training sessions one week prior to camp starting
* must be available mon.

-fri., 8:30 am-3:30pm, june 1st – august 7th
* 18 years or older, in college or completed college with a focus in psychology, social services or education
* be active in daily activities, teach and encourage children
* comfortable with traveling and chaperoning on field trips, the pool and the beach
* must have strong communication skills and professionalism will interacting with staff, campers and parents
* ability to maintain composure and model patience in stressful situations
