We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Customer Service Representative to join our team at the Northbrook Park District and deliver exceptional support to our community.

Schedule:

$16.00 - $17.75 Per Hour. This is a part‑time, non‑exempt position. Work hours may fluctuate, evening or weekend availability needed. Potential to be Part‑Time IMRF position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform membership, registration, and facility reservation operations using registration software to process member and guest transactions; transactions are accepted online, via email, in‑person or by mail.
  • Accurately explain registration procedures and provide correct information regarding programs, classes, events and facilities.
  • Foster a welcoming environment for members and guests; greet with a warm welcome and say a genuine goodbye when they depart.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by fielding members' and guests' suggestions, concerns and complaints in a positive and understanding manner; provide follow‑up and resolution as required; relay internal and external members' and guests' concerns and requests to appropriate staff and, when necessary, inform supervisor.
  • Assist members and guests with a member‑first mindset – ensure member and guest needs are a priority above other work tasks.
  • Provide information about and promote District programs; guide members and guests to appropriate programs to meet their needs.
  • Respond to telephone, in‑person and email inquiries from customers regarding programs and facilities promptly and accurately; may assist with answering phones with inquiries for other Park District locations.
  • Balance cash reports daily. Accurately handle all monetary transactions and routinely run registration reports, following the cash handling procedures.
  • Monitor access to the facility and ensure only members and guests who have checked in to TPAC are utilizing the fitness center.
  • Perform general administrative support functions as assigned.
  • Provide support to administrative and operational staff at TPAC as needed.
  • Monitor the safe use of the fitness equipment; must be able to provide basic information on how to use all fitness equipment to members and guests.
  • Clean fitness equipment as needed and re‑rack weights and plates as needed within physical requirements.
  • Report any work‑related or patron injuries or incidents to supervisor; report unsafe conditions to supervisor and correct if appropriate; complete incident/accident report forms as needed.
  • Perform all job tasks in a safe manner.
  • Attend trainings and meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous customer service experience is preferred.

Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Perform basic math computations to reconcile cash drawers
  • Effectively multitask
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Effectively communicate in telephone conversations, relaying messages that are clear and concise.
  • Work with customers and co‑workers in a professional manner in stressful situations
  • Work independently and efficiently
  • CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire

Physical Requirements
  • Required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear; use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Hand‑eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities are required and include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
