Position Summary

As a Dental Instrument Finisher, you will play an important role in the final manufacturing process of precision dental instruments. You will perform finishing operations—including buffing, grinding, shaping, and polishing—on the working ends of instruments after they have been heat-treated and hardened.

This is highly skilled, hands-on work where precision matters. Your attention to detail and craftsmanship directly contribute to the quality, functionality, and reliability of instruments that dental professionals depend on.

Why This Role Matters

The instruments you help finish may be used by dentists, hygienists, and dental specialists in procedures performed every day.

Your craftsmanship can make a difference in the dental field. By ensuring each instrument meets exact specifications for quality, dimensions, and performance, you help provide dental professionals with the tools they need to deliver safe, precise, and effective patient care.

What You'll Do
  • Utilize abrasive belts, wheels, and other tools to finish hardened dental instruments.
  • Perform highly precise finishing work on instruments with varying levels of technical complexity.
  • Use excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail to achieve required dimensions and customer specifications.
  • Learn and progress through different product families as technical skills and proficiency are developed.
  • Inspect instruments to identify unacceptable quality and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Maintain product quality by following established standards, specifications, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Use measurement tools to verify product dimensions and quality requirements.
  • Follow all OSHA requirements and company safety procedures.
  • Accurately document work using barcode scanning systems or manual logs, as appropriate.
  • Assist with training others on established work instructions and assignments as skills and experience develop.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring Experience & Skills
  • 0–1 year of experience working with machines, tools, equipment, grinding machines, or small tools used for setup and finishing preferred; entry-level candidates with a strong willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic English reading and writing skills and basic math ability.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform routine and repetitive operations while maintaining consistent quality.
  • Ability to work effectively with general supervision and make independent decisions regarding product quality when needed.
  • Ability to learn and accurately use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and protractors.
  • Basic blueprint or technical drawing reading ability, or the ability to learn.
  • Prior experience requiring strong manual dexterity and precision is helpful.
  • Ability to learn new instruments and processes using written specifications, work instructions, or approved samples.
  • Ability to learn and eventually train others on established work instructions and assignments.
