Position Overview

We are seeking an energetic, student-centered Physical Education Teacher to lead engaging PE instruction for students in grades 45. The ideal candidate will promote physical fitness, teamwork, healthy habits, and positive sportsmanship while creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement standards-based physical education lessons aligned with Illinois learning standards

Foster a positive, inclusive, and active classroom culture

Teach fundamental movement skills, team sports, fitness concepts, and cooperative activities

Assess student progress and maintain accurate records

Promote student wellness, safety, and appropriate physical activity

Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration

Supervise students during PE classes and school-related activities

Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to support student success

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Physical Education endorsement

Experience teaching elementary students preferred

Strong classroom management and communication skills

CPR/First Aid certification preferred

Preferred Skills

Ability to motivate and engage upper elementary students

Knowledge of age-appropriate fitness and motor skill development

Experience integrating social-emotional learning into PE instruction

Familiarity with adaptive PE strategies and inclusive practices
