Job Summary Job Description

The Director IT Infrastructure Engineering leads the design, build, and evolution of Medline’s core infrastructure platforms and engineering tool chain. The role spans End User Compute Engineering, Core Networking, Server Engineering, Azure Cloud Engineering, and Database Services. Focused on delivering secure, scalable, reliable, and cost‑efficient capabilities for application teams and Infrastructure Operations.

The Infrastructure Engineering leader has a product mindset, makes data-driven decisions, champions and evangelizes Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration Management, and embeds observability to drive and measure Service Level Agreements and Service Level Objectives for enterprise applications and platforms.

Major Responsibilities
  • Define the infrastructure engineering strategy and operating model across EUC, Core Networking, Servers, Azure Cloud, and Database Services; set quarterly outcomes and build a high‑performing leadership bench.
  • Own infrastructure engineering standards and reference architectures for compute, storage, virtualization/containers, identity, and platform security; deliver consumable platform capabilities and coordinate run handoffs with Operations.
  • End User Compute Engineering:
Standardize endpoint platforms (Windows/macOS), image management, MDM/Intune, device compliance, collaboration foundations; automate builds, patching, and drift management.
  • Core Networking (data center, cloud & load balancers): lead datacenter, distribution center, and cloud networking, SD‑WAN, L4–L7 services; drive automation, configuration compliance, segmentation, capacity planning, and resilient change patterns.
  • Server Engineering:
Provisioning standardization and automation, including OS builds/patching (Windows/Linux), virtualization (e.g., vSphere), configuration management, golden images, and security hardening.
  • Cloud Engineering (Azure):
Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) strategy and standardization, including Azure landing zones, network/identity patterns, policy‑as‑code, reusable modules, and pipeline‑driven changes (Azure Dev Ops/Git Lab); enable self‑service blueprints and Fin Ops guardrails.
  • Database Services: provide reliable platforms for enterprise databases (e.g., Oracle/SQL Server/MySQL); automate provisioning, patching, backup & recovery; ensure performance, capacity, and RPO/RTO targets are met.
  • Security & Compliance by design: embed identity, secrets management, segmentation, and hardening patterns; ensure pipelines meet ITGC/SDLC standards with Security/GRC.
  • Delivery excellence & financials: establish intake/prioritization and release automation; track engineering KPIs; own key tool/platform/cloud budgets and optimize unit economics.
  • Stakeholder engagement: serve as primary contact for platform engineering matters; provide clear executive updates on status, risk, and trade‑offs.
  • Global Scope:
Cross‑time‑zone collaboration; occasional after‑hours releases for infrastructure changes; periodic travel to major sites, data centers, and vendor engagements.
