Position OverviewHilco Professional Services Inventory Valuation Group is seeking a financial analyst to work in the Industrial Inventory Valuation Group in Northbrook, IL. The analyst will analyze dozens of companies annually, learn from industry experts, and contribute to value assessment of inventory.
Responsibilities- Create in-depth, dynamic models in Excel to analyze and value inventory.
- Communicate with high‑level management at companies being valued.
- Collaborate with valuation directors to value inventory under an orderly liquidation scenario.
- Perform inventory, sales, gross margin, and expense analysis across various companies and industries.
- Conduct detailed inventory and sales reconciliations.
- Interact daily with managers and valuation directors regarding project status.
- Work with large databases, multi‑task, and keep organized working documents.
- Work well under pressure; some travel (approximately 2–4 days per quarter).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- At least 2 years of financial analysis experience.
- Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain complex quantitative ideas to non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to interface with all levels in a company hierarchy and build professional relationships.
- Excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail.
- Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Proactive, self‑motivated with ability to contribute both independently and as a team member.
Annual base salary: $60,000‑$65,000 (gross). Salary range is based on geography and applicant qualifications. Total compensation may include cash bonuses, long‑term incentives, health insurance, accident and life insurance, and retirement benefits.
