About This Role
Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center whenincrisis – every day, wehelp people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.
As an OCD / Eating Disorders Primary Therapist, you’ll work thoughtfully with our patients to develop and implement their individualized treatment plans. This role will consist of conducting individual therapy meetings, providing secondary support for meals and snacks, collaborating with patients’ outpatient teams, and leading patients through their overall treatment program. You’ll partner closely with the entirety of our treatment teams to ensure comprehensive and compassionate care.
Note that upon hire, the individual in this role will primarily work with patients in our OCD and Complex Anxiety Program and those with secondary eating disorder symptoms. Compass Northbrook's Eating Disorder program will open in 2027.
What You'll Do:Assessment and Formulation
- Complete program specific evaluations, re-intake assessments, intakeassessmentsasindicatedtodeterminediagnosis and appropriateness for program
- Build and maintain transdiagnostic case formulation based on maintaining mechanisms throughout course of patient’s treatment
- Sequence treatment using program’s treatment target hierarchy
Individual Treatment
- Deliver individual therapy with evidence-basedOCD interventions (e.g., ERP) andeating disorder interventions(e.g., CBT-E, CBT-AR) while integratingDBTandACT
- Assign individualized homework, including design, assign, and debrief individual exposures
- Identify and address accommodation and safety behaviors
- Depending on census needs, conduct therapy with patients across all Over 18 programs
Care Coordination
- Serveas case lead for the treatment plan, coordinating with team
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment rounds and program huddle
- Partner with family therapist on family involvement
- Utilize Compass’s Evidence-Based Assessment system to monitor progress and guide treatment planning
- Coordinate with outpatient providers and complete aftercare handoff
Medical andRisk
- Monitor medical status in collaboration with nursing and prescribers; recognize indicators of medical instability and elevate per protocol(as indicated)
- Assess need for higher level of care, step-down, or discharge
Program Operations
- Provide secondary (Non-RD) coverage for supported meals and snacks
- Complete required documentation throughout treatment
- Participate in required program training, fidelity monitoring, supervision, and consultation
- Other duties, as assigned
Credentials and Experience
- Independently licensed as a psychologist, LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT in the state of Illinois (required)
- Experience treating eating disorders (required)
- Experience treating OCD, anxiety, and/or depression (preferred)
- Have experience in a PHP, IOP, residential, or inpatient setting(preferred)
Skills and Approach (preferred)
- Possesses a workingknowledgeofconceptualization of eating disorder treatment and co-occurring conditions
- Is able to deliver interventions that reliably address maintaining mechanisms of disorders, and ability to tolerate patient distress without accommodating or reassuring
- Practices from weight-inclusive framework
- Adopts “all foods fit” approach towards clinical nutrition
- Works within defined curriculum and fidelity expectations (rather than an idiosyncratic model)
- Seeks and uses supervision and consultation
- Possesses excellent time management skills and ability to juggle multiple demands simultaneously in a fast paced and changing environment
