We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Consultant to join a small, collaborative IT team and take ownership of critical infrastructure initiatives across the organization. This individual will play a key role in driving projects forward, executing upgrades, and supporting a modern hybrid IT environment. This is not a remote role and will require 3 days/week onsite in Northbrook, IL.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong hands-on approach and proven execution skills, capable of driving infrastructure enhancements across multiple sites through a combination of project leadership and day-to-day operational expertise.
This role requires up to 25% travel nationwide and hybrid working schedule (3 days in office)
Key Responsibilities- Own and lead infrastructure projects from design through deployment
- Drive modernization efforts across cloud and on-prem environments
- Support infrastructure upgrades across multiple business locations
- Partner with internal IT staff to deliver scalable, secure solutions
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support when needed
- Maintain documentation, standards, and best practices across systems
- Ensure infrastructure aligns with security and compliance expectations
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers as required
- Must Have Hands-on expertise with Cisco Meraki networking solutions, including:
Meraki MX security appliances, Switching and wireless deployments, Network segmentation and VLAN configuration, Site-to-site VPNs and remote connectivity - Experience administering and supporting Microsoft Azure environments
- Windows Server administration
- Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams)
- Identity and access management support
- Strong understanding of enterprise Routing, switching, DNS, DHCP and WAN connectivity and multi-site environments
- Proven ability to independently manage and deliver infrastructure projects including
- Office/site technology upgrades, Network refresh initiatives, Cloud migrations, Security enhancements
- Experience working in lean IT teams where flexibility is required
- Working knowledge of infrastructure security concepts, including:
Firewall configuration and access controls, Endpoint and network security best practices, Identity protection and MFA, Disaster recovery and business continuity planning
- Experience supporting multi-location organizations
- Familiarity with ITIL or structured support frameworks
- Experience with monitoring and management tools
