Data Engineer, Data Analyst
Job Description
Contribute to the overall management and proficiency of mastered data across different domains. This includes participating in the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of UL’s enterprise data governance program to enable the ability to make better and more informed decisions based on mastered data that is trustworthy, secure, and easily accessible. This is a key role in the Global Business Services (GBS) Data Governance team and will work closely with both functional and technical leaders to further define, develop, and implement the data governance program.
Responsibilities- Data maintenance of mastered records including but not limited to addressing data quality issues reliably and in a timely fashion as well as processing data requests.
- Assist with capturing and maintaining a comprehensive global data catalog and business glossary.
- Assist with developing and maintaining global data standards, policies, and procedures.
- Develop recommendations for critical processes in collaboration with functional, operational, and technical partners to understand the impacts of changes within and across master data domains and impacts to downstream processes and transactions.
- Create and maintain global master data standard operating procedures (SOP) and work instructions for continuous improvement of data governance standards and processes based upon leading practices, evolving industry trends, and expanding operational capabilities.
- Improve processes regarding data flow and quality to improve data accuracy, viability, and value.
- Maintain data management workflows for entry and approval to ensure all stakeholders are consulted, informed, or responsible for their data.
- Understand requirements for approvals and processes to create needed flexibility without sacrificing data integrity.
- Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelors degree) in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline plus generally 6+ years of experience in master data governance.
- Experience with and understanding of data management principles including but not limited to business data glossary development and maintenance and data quality rules. Working experience of 1+ years in Informatica.
- Proficiency in Microsoft products such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to work with technical and nontechnical staff and understanding key stakeholders’ data needs.
- Ability to influence and align various key stakeholders to a common set of standards.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities with deliverables completed on time and with high quality.
- Results oriented and effective as both a team member and independent worker with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $72,600 to $96,800 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary.
This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
