SummaryThe Engineering Manager will lead the development and maintenance of the technology infrastructure, systems, and software applications. This role also leads and develops a team of Software Engineers and Senior Software Engineers. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to drive innovation and efficiency in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities- Lead and mentor the software engineering team, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Set clear goals and expectations for the team and provide guidance and support in achieving those objectives.
- Develop and implement a technology strategy aligned with the company’s business goals and industry best practices.
- Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications and systems that support operations, trading, risk management, portfolio management, and compliance functions.
- Manage the company’s technology infrastructure, including data centers, cloud services, and networking, to ensure high availability and performance.
- Ensure that technology systems and applications meet security and compliance requirements, including data protection and access control.
- Lead the company’s exploration of artificial intelligence as a strategic capability, identifying responsible use cases that support thoughtful innovation, informed decision‑making, and operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the compliance and IT teams to address technology‑related concerns.
- Lead technology projects from inception to completion, managing resources, budgets, and timelines.
- Translate business and technical requirements into clear engineering objectives.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on project status and performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Experience managing and scaling engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, Dev Ops practices, modern development stacks, and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD).
- Ability to lead complex projects from concept through delivery, balancing technical excellence with business needs.
- Knowledge of financial industry technology, including trading systems and data analytics tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
