Range of the Position/ Grade: $15.00-$30.00/ hour / Grade 125

FLSA Status: Non-exempt – Part Time (no more than 19 hours per week on average)

Schedule: Required to work a regular, pre-defined schedule, at least three consecutive weekdays, and provide advanced notice of any time off requests. All hours worked would be during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm.

The IT Intern will assist the Village's IT department with various projects, including imaging and deploying computers, assisting with in-place upgrades from Windows 10 to Windows 11, assisting with Office 365 application upgrades, troubleshooting issues, and supporting service desk ticket resolutions across multiple Village departments. The position offers exposure to a range of technologies, with opportunities to contribute to cybersecurity initiatives and work with systems used by public safety and other departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service Desk Support: Assist in resolving service desk incidents and provide updates in service desk tickets as assigned.
  • Assist with Device Imaging
    :
    Help image desktop and laptop computers, tablets, and smart phones, ensuring they are ready for deployment.
  • Assist with Office 365 application upgrades
    :
    Assist with Office 365 application upgrades.
  • Install Software and Applications
    :
    Install additional software or applications as needed.
  • Collaboration Across Departments
    :
    Work with various Village departments (Police and Fire, Development & Planning Services, Public Works, Finance, Manager's Office) and staff at all levels.
  • Documentation: Create or update IT-related documentation as needed.
  • Cybersecurity Projects: Depending on experience, assist with cybersecurity tasks, such as updating security policies or reviewing security logs.

Must haves for the ideal candidate include:

  • Ideal candidates are in their last year of undergraduate studies or in graduate school in a technology-related program. Recent graduates seeking hands‑on professional experience will also be considered.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Some experience working with computer hardware and software and setting up new computers, tablets, and smart phones.
  • Some experience working with Microsoft Windows 11.
  • Some experience troubleshooting technology issues.
  • Strong attention to detail is critical.
  • Must be able to move and set up computers independently.
