Responsibilities
We are seeking a hands-on IT Infrastructure Engineer for a short-term contract engagement. This role will support day-to-day infrastructure operations, assist with systems maintenance, and contribute to small-to-medium IT projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working across servers, networking, and end-user support in a fast-paced environment.
This is a 3 month contract opportunity located onsite in Northbrook, IL.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows and Linux servers
- Perform routine system updates, patching, and security maintenance following change management procedures
- Troubleshoot server, storage, and network issues
- Monitor backup processes, perform restore testing, and resolve backup-related issues
- Support AWS S3 buckets used for backup systems
- Maintain server documentation, including deployment and decommissioning records
- Support virtualization platforms and perform scheduled maintenance
- Participate in disaster recovery testing and execution
- Provide first-level support for network connectivity issues
- Assist with infrastructure installations, upgrades, and documentation
- Lead small to mid-sized infrastructure projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget
- Support additional systems including network, telephony, and video conferencing tools
- Track and report KPIs (backup success rates) in alignment with ISO standards
- Perform assigned tasks as part of the disaster recovery test calendar
- Provide backup helpdesk support, including support for remote sites as needed
- Image and deploy end-user PCs
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls (including Azure MFA setup)
- Assist with security remediation efforts identified by the security team
- Maintain and audit inventories of IT assets (PCs, mobile devices, network equipment, servers) in accordance with ISO
27001 processes - Follow all IT governance, processes, and company policies
- Collaborate with global IT, local teams, and end users to support business operations
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Experience supporting Windows and/or Linux server environments
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with backup systems and disaster recovery processes
- Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Exposure to AWS (S3 preferred)
- Understanding of IT security best practices and access management
- Experience providing helpdesk/end-user support
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in an onsite environment
- Prior experience supporting ISO
27001 or similar compliance frameworks is a plus - Experience with infrastructure project coordination or leadership
- Familiarity with telephony or video conferencing systems
- Experience in asset/inventory management processes
- Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
- Must demonstrate a can-do attitude
$42.00 - $47.00 an hour
