Job Scope

The Senior Manager, Supply Chain Planning and Purchasing leads the supply planning tasks necessary to ensure an uninterrupted flow of Instrument, Reagent, and Bioassay products to customers. This role creates and implements production plans that are both material and resource feasible and serves as the primary point of contact regarding product availability. Manages the business relationship between Luminex and its suppliers to purchase goods and services for the company at the lowest total cost.

This role is also responsible for leading and supporting key supply chain projects and process improvement initiatives, and serves as a key participant in setting the strategic direction of the Planning Organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Utilize demand forecasts and sales trends to create and maintain supply plans, capacity plans, and master production schedules for multiple product lines.
  • Interface with manufacturing, materials and logistics, technical support and R&D to ensure availability of necessary raw materials.
  • Identify and resolve raw material shortages in a timely manner.
  • Manage the resolution process of MRP exceptions, and resolve MRP discrepancies; serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for MRP and Oracle related issues.
  • Monitor and update open order reports and other indicators to ensure timely delivery of finished goods to support customer demand.
  • Identify, negotiate, and resolve conflicts with respect to material and capacity availability and order‑promising.
  • Notify Order Management, Manufacturing, and other internal stakeholders whenever an existing shipment commitment is in jeopardy, and recommend alternatives on how the requested demand could be satisfied.
  • Maintain inventory levels within established goals and guidelines and adjust stocking levels accordingly.
  • Minimize raw material and finished goods scrap through monitoring and implementing corrective actions.
  • Actively participate as a reviewer/approver in the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process; serve as a SME on the ECO process.
  • Review cycle count and physical inventory records, provide approvals and assist in resolution of any discrepancies.
  • Maintain planning and buying parameters such as lead times, lot sizes, scales, safety stocks, and other item attributes for all planned items.
  • Ensure all processes are conducted according to approved procedures.
  • Demonstrate ownership of product lines through consistent and effective reporting of product availability, potential risks, opportunities, and overall health of Instrument, Reagent, and Bioassay products supported.
  • Identify and implement process improvements with significant ROI and business impact, either individually or in a team leadership role.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts and projects in addition to other daily responsibilities.
  • Interact with all levels of management and convey necessary information in written and verbal communications.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, engineering and sourcing to resolve issues for current sourced solutions.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of suppliers and their capabilities, including key personnel, product details, production processes, order handling, internal systems, and shipping capabilities.
  • Identify, evaluate and manage supply risk exposure and devise risk mitigation measures.
  • Investigate and drive corrective actions to receiving and accounting problems related to purchase orders.
  • Manage the tactical business relationship between the supplier and Luminex, and ensure that communications are clear and appropriate.

Education, Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Science, or equivalent required.
  • 7+ years of experience working in a supply chain role, including planning, purchasing, and/or logistics.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Medical Device, Pharma, or other Healthcare field.
  • 2+ years of experience using an ERP system in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1+ year of experience with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS).
