Job SummaryThe incumbent will supervise, review, and coordinate the preparation of monthly payroll and payroll-added cost entries, SG&A accruals, fixed asset transactions, account and bank reconciliations, and related management reports. Trains, develops, and appraises a staff of 2 to maintain a high level of work efficiency, competency, and flexibility.
Matrix Responsibilities- Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and process oversight for corporate accounting.
- Provide direction to individuals regarding their role and responsibilities to help meet Company objectives and the department’s role in corporate goals.
- Empower and promote appropriate levels of responsibility and authority to learn, grow into new duties, and make decisions to achieve department objectives.
- Demonstrate integrity and trust by staying current with information and technology, and being knowledgeable with FASB and AICPA guidance affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
- Promote the corporate controller’s group by developing strong relationships across CF departments through communication across management.
- Encourage cross involvement and the matrix organizational structure with direct reports.
- Coordinate and review journal entries and account analysis; oversee maintenance and control procedures for the general ledger system.
- Coordinate and review analyses and exhibits for the financial statement commentary package.
- Coordinate and review preparation and issuance of various reports to management.
- Coordinate and review special projects, providing assistance where necessary.
- Coordinate year-end audit closing schedules and monitor progress.
- Initiate, research, and document improvements to current methods and procedures.
- Promote greater analytical skills across the finance team.
- Perform or direct the performance of special projects as assigned.
- With approval, investigate and implement process changes to promote internal controls and efficiently process department transactions and other responsibilities.
- Plan, coordinate, and review work assignments.
- Identify training needs and provide resources to meet these needs.
Establishes and implements processes and procedures to meet departmental internal control requirements. Ensures processes/procedures are followed as designed. Works with the Internal Controls Department to identify deficiencies, determine the need for new processes, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Successful Incumbents Will Have- Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Accounting or equivalent.
- CPA and/or master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 to 8 years of accounting experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills.
- PC literate within a Windows environment with excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications; knowledge of SAP preferred.
The General Accounting Department is responsible for the preparation and issuance of CF Industries’ consolidated financial statements and handling financial inquiries from other individuals/departments. Extensive contact exists with various Corporate and plant personnel. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that General Accounting performs these functions with accuracy and efficiency.
Estimated base pay for the position is typically between: $94,700 – $124,900.
