Join AT Precision as a CNC Machine Shop Programmer in Northbrook, IL. In this role, you will program, troubleshoot, verify, and run first-article precision‑machined parts for a variety of industries. Responsibilities include using CAD/CAM software, operating CNC machine tools, interpreting technical drawings, and supporting innovative manufacturing solutions in a fast‑paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities- Programming:
Develop, test, and optimize CNC programs (G‑code/M‑code) using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Edgecam) for milling and turning. - Set‑up & Operation:
Install fixtures, attachments, and tools; set tool/work offsets; and perform initial machine calibration. - Production & Quality:
Run first‑article inspection (FAI) parts to ensure conformance to specifications. Monitor production, adjust speeds/feeds, and troubleshoot errors. - Maintenance & Safety:
Perform routine maintenance (lubrication, cleaning) and adhere to safety standards (5S). - Documentation:
Maintain setup sheets, document tool paths, and update program files. +5S and Six Sigma Improvement. Responsible for some level of engineering change control.
- Experience:
Generally 2–3+ years of experience in CNC programming, set‑up, and operation. - Technical
Skills:
Strong blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and understanding of tooling/material properties. - Software:
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and machine controls (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, etc.). Also MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. - Education:
High school diploma; technical degree or certificate in precision machining is highly preferred. - Abilities:
High attention to detail, strong problem‑solving skills, and physical stamina, can lift 25 to 50 lbs.
