Tool and Die Technician
Join a growing manufacturing team as a Tool and Die Technician, where you will work in a well-organized, medium-sized facility to support machining, tooling, and die repair activities. You will operate CNC equipment, contribute to high-quality production, and help maintain tools and dies that keep operations running efficiently in a modern, climate-controlled environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC machines safely and efficiently to produce high-quality parts and components.
- Support tool and die activities, including basic die repair, maintenance, and adjustments as needed.
- Set up and run machining operations in a machine shop environment, following established procedures and work instructions.
- Inspect parts for quality, ensuring they meet specifications and tolerances using appropriate measuring tools and techniques.
- Assist with tooling changes, adjustments, and improvements to support production requirements.
- Collaborate with team members in the manufacturing environment to meet production goals and maintain workflow.
- Follow all safety, housekeeping, and organizational standards to keep the work area clean, orderly, and compliant.
- Troubleshoot basic machining or tooling issues and escalate more complex problems to team members when necessary.
- Document work performed and maintain accurate records related to machining, tooling, and quality checks.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, quality, and efficiency.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of CNC experience in a production or machine shop setting.
- At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with machining processes and operating machine shop equipment.
- Basic understanding of tool and die concepts, tooling, and die repair practices.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Strong focus on quality and attention to detail when inspecting parts and components.
- Commitment to working safely in a manufacturing environment and following safety guidelines.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a structured, organized setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Tool and die experience, including exposure to tooling and die repair, is a strong plus.
- TMA Certificate is a preferred qualification.
- Journeyman Machinist Certificate is highly desirable.
- Experience working in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
- Familiarity with quality checks and inspection methods in a machining or tooling environment.
- Interest in growing skills in tool and die, machining, and CNC operations.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing environment within a medium-sized, well-organized facility. Many portions of the plant are climate controlled, providing a comfortable and consistent work setting. You will work a daytime shift from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., operating CNC machines and machining equipment in a machine shop setting. The environment emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and safety, with modern machinery and clearly structured workflows to support efficient production.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northbrook, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
