Serfilco Ltd, a worldwide leading manufacturer and supplier of pumps and filters to chemical processing industries, currently has a vacancy for an Assembler in our Northbrook, IL facility. This position will report to the Production Manager, and the successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and professional manufacturing team. - Assemble by hand or using hand tools or portable powered tools, or operate equipment as necessary to produce or process products.
- Load and unload previously setup machines, such as arbor presses, drill presses, taps, spot-welding machines, riveting machines, milling machines, or broaches, to perform fastening, force fitting, or light metal-cutting operation on the assembly line.
- Lay out reference points, fabricate, and assemble according to blueprints and engineering specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and bills of materials.
- Scribe cutting and bending lines on prefabricated parts and cuts, bends, and trims parts according to layout.
- Use hand files or portable grinders to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts.
- Align components, and bolt, screw, or rivet them together.
- Install and test moving parts.
- May be assigned to different workstations as production needs require or shift from one station to another to reduce fatigue factor.
- May be part of a crew and assist skilled operators in performance of skilled function.
- May work at bench as a member of an assembly group that processes or assembles one or two specific parts and passes the unit to another worker.
- May assist with shipping and receiving including computer and ERP system data maintenance.
- May repair units that fail to meet specifications.
- Performs all other duties as required.
- Responsible for cleaning the work area.
Education/Experience and/or Training
- High School diploma or GED required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and bills of materials.
- Basic computer skills and ERP software knowledge.
- An active forklift certification is a plus.
- Identify problems, inform others, and provide information to assist with solving the problem.
- Use verbal skills to communicate with co-workers or customers and/or vendors.
- Complete and maintain documentation/records to effectively convey ideas and information both in written and oral form.
