OVERALLPURPOSE OF THE JOB
Assembles by hand or using hand tools or portable powered tools, or operates equipment as necessary to produce or process products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Loads and unloads previously set-up machines, such as arbor presses, drill presses, taps, spot-welding machines, riveting machines, milling machines, or broaches, to perform fastening, force fitting, or light metal-cutting operation on the assembly line
- Lays out reference points, fabricates, and assembles according to blueprints and engineering specifications
- Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering specifications, and bill of materials
- Scribes cutting and bending lines on prefabricated parts and cuts, bends, and trims parts according to layout
- Uses hand files or portable grinders to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts
- Aligns components, and bolts, screws, or rivets them together
- Installs and tests moving parts
- Might be assigned to different workstations as production needs require or shift from one station to another to reduce fatigue factor
- Might be part of a crew and assist skilled operators in performance of skilled functions
- Might work at bench as member of an assembly group that processes or assembles one or two specific parts and passes unit to another worker
- Might assist with shipping and receiving including computer and ERP system data maintenance
- Might repair units that fail to meet specifications
- Performs all other duties as required
- Responsible for cleaning work area
- High School diploma or GED required
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and bill of materials
- Basic computer skills and ERP software knowledge
- Active forklift certification is a plus
- Identify problems, inform others, and provide information to assist with solving the problem

- Complete and maintain documentation/records to effectively convey ideas and information both in written and oral form

- Repetitive twisting, pressure, and finger movements; ability to repeatedly bend; ability to operate truck/motor vehicle
- Ability to climb stairs, crawl, and pull hand over hand
- Ability to hear conversation and use color vision; ability to use both hands; ability to handle extreme temperatures and physical conditions
- Frequent handling of heavy loads and rapid mental/muscular tasks
- Occasional tasks involving exposure to fumes, dust, chemicals, and noise above 85 dB
- Constantly incurred: shift between 8-12 hours, work inside and outside, with moving vehicles, machinery with moving parts, in heat between 90°F–100°F, with ladders/scaffolding
- Frequently incurred: work outside with dust, in excess heat over 100°F, exposure to gases, cold weather below 55°F, chemicals, irritants, and toxic fumes
- Occasionally incurred: work in a typical office setting, wetness, dry atmospheric conditions, confined spaces, excessive heights, exposure to blood and bodily fluids, vibration, and intermittent noise above 85 dB; travel and overnight stays; work exceeding 40 hours per week
