Senior Development Officer

The Hecktman Family JCCs of Chicago is seeking a dynamic, dedicated Senior Development Officer to join our amazing team in Northbrook! This is a fundraising position: 5-8 years of fundraising experience required. For full consideration, submit a cover letter along with your resume.

The Hecktman Family JCCs of Chicago is the largest of more than 170 Jewish Community Centers in North America – home to six early childhood centers, nine-day camps, one resident overnight camp, and a myriad of other programs and services focused on the care and keeping of children, family, and community. The Hecktman Family JCCs of Chicago has served our community for over 100 years and reaches more than 100,000 community members yearly through our programs, services, and experience.

Reporting to the Chief Impact Officer, this role is responsible for a comprehensive donor cultivation, solicitation, and engagement strategy that will expand our community of support. The Senior Development Officer will actively manage a portfolio of donors and prospects from individuals and corporations soliciting 5- and 6-figure gifts.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • In partnership with the Chief Impact Officer and Senior Director of Development, develop and implement a multi-faceted fundraising strategy to support overall operations, programming, and capital needs.
  • Actively manage, solicit, and steward a robust portfolio of key individual and corporate donors and prospects soliciting 5- and 6-figure gifts.
  • Lead face-to-face solicitations and develop individualized stewardship and creative engagement plans.
  • Cultivate new funders and contribute to the major gifts pipeline.
  • Develop and expand corporate partnerships, including sponsor ships and employee engagement opportunities.
  • Support building an integrated, strategic legacy giving plan.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records, contact reports, and pipeline activity within the CRM system to support relationship management and forecasting.
  • Contribute to leadership, planning, and strategy for the Development Department.
  • Support the Chief Impact Officer with special projects on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements include:

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, twist and/or walk on a frequent basis throughout an 8-hour day.
  • Mobility:
    Repetitive movement of arms and hands to operate computer, smartphone, keyboard and mouse.
  • Ability to frequently push, pull, and lift up to 20 pounds; occasionally may need to lift more than 20 pounds.
  • Mental Abilities:
    Attention to detail, manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Vision Abilities:
    See detail in objects; distinguish between colors, shades, and brightness and ability to focus and operate a vehicle or office equipment.

Days/Hours/%
Travel:

The position will generally operate Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate donor schedules including early morning meetings, evenings, and occasional weekends.

The Development team currently operates on a hybrid model and is in-office 3 days per week.

Some evenings and weekends will be required for major agency events.

Education qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Communications or a related field.

Salary range: $110,000- $125,000

Other requirements:

  • A minimum of 5-8 years of relevant frontline fundraising, relationship management, and/or complex program management experience is preferred, including previous experience soliciting 5- and 6-figure gifts.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Exceptional ability to take initiative and exercise sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with pediatric Jewish communal fundraising is highly desirable.
  • A good sense of humor and humility, and an eagerness to actively participate in the team's collective success.
