Electrician

This role focuses on building electrical control panels, performing field wiring on machines, and troubleshooting electrical and control systems using detailed engineering drawings. You will support customers both remotely and onsite, ensuring all work meets print specifications and internal quality standards while contributing to continuous improvements in workflow, quality, and productivity.

Responsibilities
  • Build electrical panels and perform field wiring on machines by following engineering drawings and established electrical standards.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control issues on panels and machines, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Inspect completed work carefully to verify accuracy and quality before moving on to the next assignment, correcting any issues identified.
  • Provide customer support via phone, email, and onsite visits to customer plants, including start-up assistance and troubleshooting.
  • Communicate job status clearly with team members and collaborate to keep each project on schedule and within quality expectations.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to workflows, processes, and methods to enhance quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Install and connect sensors, actuators, control panels, and related components in accordance with wiring diagrams and safety standards.
  • Use diagnostic tools, including multimeters, to test circuits, verify continuity, and confirm proper system operation.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, electrical schematics, and ladder logic diagrams to perform accurate installations and repairs.
  • Participate in machine building and mechanical assembly tasks related to electrical systems as needed.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records by entering transactions into computers or tablets and following part delivery instructions.
  • Follow simple and complex instructions delivered verbally, in writing, or through computer systems to complete assigned work.
  • Handle multiple jobs with a strong sense of urgency, shifting between tasks as required to process a wide variety of projects.
  • Lay out jobs and execute the multiple steps required to complete each project from start to finish.
  • Perform all work in alignment with the organization's values, emphasizing quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Essential Skills
  • Demonstrated experience in panel building, including assembling and wiring electrical control panels.
  • Strong field wiring skills for machines and equipment, including routing, terminating, and labeling wires.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Solid electrical troubleshooting skills for both conventional electrical systems and PLC-based systems.
  • Experience with machine building and mechanical assembly related to electrical components.
  • Ability to install and connect sensors, actuators, HMIs, load cells, and other automation devices.
  • Familiarity with PLC brands such as Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) and Siemens.
  • Knowledge of control systems and their integration with other automation equipment.
  • Proficiency using diagnostic tools, including multimeters, to test and verify electrical circuits.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, especially when interpreting schematics and ladder logic diagrams.
  • Effective communication skills for interpreting technical documentation and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Ability to follow instructions provided verbally, in writing, or via computer systems.
  • Capability to enter data and transactions into computers or tablets and follow part delivery instructions.
  • Physical ability to bend, twist, reach, push, and lift for extended periods daily.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as required.
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours per day, at least 5 days per week.
  • High sense of urgency with the ability to shift from job to job to support a variety of projects.
  • Strong cause-and-effect analytical abilities to diagnose and resolve technical problems.
  • Commitment to performing work in alignment with the organization's core values.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Electrical trade background, typically gained through an apprenticeship or vocational training in electrical work.
  • Experience working as a general electrician or in a similar industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with HMIs, sensors, actuators, load cells, and other control system components.
  • Ability to provide clear and professional customer support via phone, email, and onsite visits.
  • Open and honest communication style, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience with machine building and custom automation systems is beneficial.
