Position: SME - Building Automation and Monitoring Specialist (BAMS)

Job Description

The Building Automation & Monitoring Specialist is a quality‑assurance role focused on providing oversight and guidance as the single‑point in‑house contact for all matters related to building automation and monitoring (BAM). This individual will program‑manage all technical issues across T5 Data Center sites with BAM or DCIM platforms, establish portfolio training guidelines and policies, perform BAM PM activities, and assist local site teams with break‑fix support (remotely via VPN or on‑site as required).

They will advise the Technical Program Manager on BAM program development and supervision, establish in‑house quality procedures, standards, and specifications for BAM controls, train employees on Niagara/Tridium platforms, assess and enforce BMS/EPMS service standards, specify quality requirements with suppliers, enforce safe work practices, ensure compliance with standards during new construction or upgrades, manage issue tracking and resolution, write technical reports, perform service on HVAC and electrical control systems, drive continuous improvement, direct controls and monitoring to maximize energy efficiencies, record and analyze statistical information, monitor system integrator performance during construction, coordinate warranty and commissioning, and attend continuing education seminars to stay current in the BAM industry.

Responsibilities
  • Program manage technical issues across T5 Data Center sites with BAM or DCIM platforms.
  • Establish portfolio training guidelines, policies, and requirements.
  • Perform BAM PM activities.
  • Assist local site teams with break‑fix support, remotely via VPN or on‑site.
  • Advise the Technical Program Manager on BAM program development.
  • Establish quality procedures, standards, and specifications related to BAM controls.
  • Train T5FM employees on Niagara/Tridium platforms.
  • Assess internal customer BMS/EPMS requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Enforce internal customer BMS/EPMS service standards.
  • Specify quality requirements of BMS/EPMS-related services with suppliers, vendors, and system integrators.
  • Set standards for safe work practices related to BMS/EPMS.
  • Ensure new construction and upgrade installation practices comply with national and international standards.
  • Work with facilities operations teams to track and resolve BMS/EPMS issues through warranty and post‑warranty periods.
  • Develop and write technical reports on issue tracking and resolution across the T5 BMS/EPMS portfolio.
  • Perform planned and unplanned service on HVAC and electrical control systems.
  • Act as a catalyst for change and improvement through continuous improvement and latest technology opportunities.
  • Direct controls and monitoring system objectives to maximize energy efficiencies.
  • Record, analyze, and distribute statistical information related to BMS/EPMS.
  • Monitor system integrator performance during construction activities related to BMS/EPMS commissioning.
  • Coordinate with construction teams for warranty and commissioning items.
  • Attend continuing education seminars to stay abreast of industry standards, trends, and practices.
  • Assist the technical operations team as needed without interference with priority responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited college or university in a major relevant field or equivalent 5‑7+ years of experience in mission‑critical environments with a heavy emphasis on building controls and monitoring.
  • Technical school background with an emphasis on building controls and monitoring, mission‑critical operations, high‑performance manufacturing, or relevant military operations (US Navy a plus) is preferred.
Total Compensation
  • Annual salary: $104,000 – $114,000
  • Bonus eligible
