Position: RN - Pulmonary Medicine Unit - Days

Hourly Pay Range

$36.00 - $55.80. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights

Position:
Registered Nurse – Pulmonary Medicine Unit (higher acuity patient population).

Location:

Elmhurst, IL. Full Time: 24 hours per week, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm with every 3rd weekend and holiday track.

What You Will Do
  • Develop a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes, evaluate patient progress, and revise diagnosis, interventions, or outcomes as needed.
  • Provide patient assessment and collect health data involving patients, families, and other health care providers.
  • Communicate the plan of care to patients and families regularly, respecting their wishes and perceptions, and set mutually agreed goals.
  • Communicate patient data to physicians and the interdisciplinary team as indicated to meet care needs.
  • Document patient health data, interventions, and communications.
  • Individualize patient- and family‑based teaching based on assessment of cultural background, learning style, barriers, and modify the teaching plan accordingly.
  • Provide teaching on disease‑management strategies, emergency care, and drug information when appropriate.
  • Identify community resources that support patient self‑management of disease.
  • Interact with and contribute to professional development of peers, students, and other health care providers; share knowledge, provide feedback, and support a learning environment for clinical education.
  • Assign or delegate tasks as needed.
  • Provide psychological support to nurture a compassionate environment.
  • Assist technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, administration of drugs, O₂ therapy, and IV management.
  • Participate in performance‑improvement activities and nursing research.
  • Stay current on research and practice trends in wound, ostomy, and skin care through professional networking, ongoing education, and self‑directed learning.
  • Support staff in using research and evidence‑based care.
  • When qualified, conduct daily rounds of wound, ostomy, and skin‑care patients.
  • Monitor effectiveness of wound, ostomy, and skin‑care treatment plans and other aspects of wound care.
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist in transporting acutely ill patients as needed.
What You Will Need
  • Required

    Education:

    Associate Degree or higher in Nursing.
  • Requirements (effective September 1, 2021): If the Associate Degree in Nursing is the highest degree held, a Bachelor’s in Nursing must be earned within five years of the position start date. Current incumbents with a RN Diploma are grandfathered; if the RN Diploma was earned prior to September 1, 2021, the position is open.
  • Active Illinois State Nursing License.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association within six months of start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – National CPR Foundation (NCPRF) and a current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association.

    Education and Experience:

    Bachelor’s in Nursing; one year of inpatient nursing experience highly preferred.
