We are seeking a Facilities General Maintenance Technician for our client site in Groton, CT. The successful candidate will have outstanding skills and will be committed to working with others to deliver best in class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction.
OverviewThe work schedule for this role is Monday - Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm; however, various hours may be required based on business demand. This role requires a hands-on individual who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced setting and is committed to upholding high standards in a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Responsibilities- Aesthetic Maintenance and Repairs:
Paint and patch walls, doors, and other surfaces; replace damaged or missing ceiling tiles; replace damaged or missing floor tiles; repair leaky sinks, faucets, and minor plumbing issues; replace light bulbs and fixtures and ensure proper illumination. - General Maintenance
Activities:
Perform on-the-spot repairs and improvements including minor carpentry, basic electrical and other tasks to maintain a polished facility environment. - Safety and Quality Adherence:
Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, PPE usage, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Report hazards or escalated issues to supervisors promptly.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in maintenance, facilities management, or a related field is preferred. - Experience:
At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in general building maintenance, preferably in a pharmaceutical, laboratory, or industrial environment. Familiarity with aesthetic repairs and proactive maintenance approaches is highly desirable. - Technical
Skills:
Proficiency with basic hand and power tools for painting, patching, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks. Basic knowledge of building systems (HVAC awareness, lighting, plumbing). Experience using CMMS software for work order tracking; training will be provided if needed. - Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive mindset. Excellent communication skills for documenting work and collaborating with team members. Ability to work independently during second shift with minimal supervision. - Physical/Work Requirements:
- Regularly lift to 50 lbs
- Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding
- Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement
- Walk extensively throughout the facility during shift
- Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions
- Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE as needed
- Cope with demands (stressors) associated with the job and/or work environment
- Preferred Requirements:
Technical degree preferred. Experience in GMP or similar regulated environments (hospitals, biomedical or pharmaceutical campuses). - Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); EAMS experience is a plus.
- Experience interpreting various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain a security access badge at the client location.
- Must be willing to work overtime, various shifts, and weekends.
- This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
- Must be a United States citizen or Permanent Resident.
Salary range: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour. Compensation is a good-faith estimate and may vary based on factors such as responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable agreements, and relevant laws.
