Service Technician
Are you a self-starter who can work independently and responsibly? Are you detail oriented with good time management skills?
We are a water filtration company seeking a Service Technician to provide maintenance and repairs on our water dispensing equipment located in a local health food store in Novato, CA.
Hours: Part-time, Non-Exempt, as needed per assigned store(s). IMPORTANT: Service Technicians are not guaranteed a set number of hours of work each day, week, month or year.
Rate of Pay: Starting at $55.00/hr, DOE
Benefits: Not eligible, except for paid sick leave, as required by state law and local ordinance.
Accountability/Reports To: Field Service Operations - Regional Service Coordinator or Field Service Manager
OverviewProvide scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency maintenance/repairs to the Company’s equipment. The Service Technician will build positive relationships with customers and store management and provide timely communication when emergency maintenance/repairs are required. The Technician will communicate with the company on-site during assignments and after each visit.
Responsibilities/DutiesAs a Service Technician for National Water Services, the Employee’s main duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain good workmanship practices.
- Ensure the Fresh Pure® dispensing cabinet area and backroom processing area are dry, tidy, and clean upon departure.
- Provide preventative maintenance (changing filters, UV lamps, batteries, tanks, upgrading equipment).
- Provide troubleshooting (reading and reporting pressure gauges and flow meters, detecting leaks, using a multimeter, performing water sample tests such as TDS and pH).
- Make repairs (stop leaks, tighten fittings, replace fittings, valves, tubing, electrical wires, and components).
- Receive a Work Order/Service Request and complete the assigned tasks.
- Communicate with Supervisor on the time-frame for completing the Work Order/Service Request and call for instructions as needed while onsite.
- Complete all Work Orders/Service Requests and sign the water dispensing cabinet store Inspection Card on each service.
- Report and correct any additional conditions affecting system functionality, equipment serviceability, appearance, or customer dispensing experience.
- Obtain prior authorization for materials; be reimbursed for store receipts. Mileage and driving time are compensated at the employee’s hourly rate.
- May have occasional emergency service calls outside of normal business hours. Onsite response goal: within 24–48 hours or sooner for emergencies.
- Taste the water and report results as required. Notify the Supervisor before leaving the store location.
The Company reserves the sole and absolute discretion to assign other duties and projects consistent with the Service Technician role.

Skills and Education RequirementsHigh School education or GED. Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical skills. Strong communication, comfort with various technologies, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and store management.
The Company requires a motor vehicle background check and eligibility to work in the United States for this position, which will be performed after a conditional offer of employment. The Company does not run a credit report.
Inter-RelationshipsPhone, email, or other technology contact with Regional Service Coordinators, Field Service Manager, and/or other personnel. Contact with the Company’s customers and the store’s customers.
Physical Demands- Must continuously (66% to 100% of a work day):
Standing, reaching, and handling tasks; lifting up to 10 pounds; repetitive use of foot control, hands, and grasping (simple/firm). - Must frequently (34% to 66% of a work day):
Walking; waist bending; climbing; reaching above shoulder level; kneeling; lifting up to 25 pounds; wrist rotation/deviation; neck twisting/bending. - Must occasionally (1% to 33% of a work day):
Sitting; pushing/pulling with legs, arms, or body; lifting 26–100 pounds; operation of heavy equipment or exposure to dust on equipment.
