Job SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining parish facilities and grounds in a safe, clean, and functional condition. This position performs general maintenance, repair work, custodial support, and facility setup to ensure a welcoming environment for parishioners, students, staff, and visitors.
Job Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and repairs for parish buildings, classrooms, offices, and common areas.
- Conduct inspections of facilities, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance or safety concerns.
- Complete minor repairs involving plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, lighting, HVAC, doors, locks, and fixtures.
- Maintain parish grounds, including sidewalks, parking lots, landscaping, and outdoor areas.
- Assist with setup and breakdown for parish events, meetings, liturgies, and activities.
- Ensure facilities are clean, orderly, and properly secured.
- Monitor and maintain maintenance equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
- Follow parish safety procedures and maintain compliance with applicable health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as directed.
- Support snow removal, salting, and weather-related facility needs as required.
- Promote a welcoming and professional environment consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous maintenance, custodial, or facilities experience preferred. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general repair work. Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Completion of required background screening and Safe Environment requirements as applicable.
