Maintenance/Cleaning
Janitor, Cleaning Services, Facility Maintenance, Building Maintenance
Step into a role where your work truly shines - literally! The City is opening the doors to its brand‑new Public Works Facility, and we're looking for a Custodian II who takes pride in creating clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for employees and the public.
In this position, you'll become the heartbeat of our facility's daily rhythm. Your day might begin by making sure restrooms are fully stocked and spotless, then moving through offices to keep floors polished, blinds dust‑free, and work spaces looking their best. You'll help keep the building running smoothly by handling minor repairs, reporting maintenance needs, managing cleaning supplies as deliveries come in, and ensuring towels and mop heads are always ready for use.
On some days, you'll help set up meeting spaces so teams can gather and collaborate, or give floors that satisfying freshly‑waxed shine. And when winter weather arrives, you'll be part of the crew keeping sidewalks clear and safe for everyone.
This role is perfect for someone who is self‑motivated and comfortable working independently. You'll often move through the facility on your own, prioritizing tasks, noticing what needs attention, and taking initiative to keep everything running smoothly without needing constant direction. Your ability to stay organized, manage your time well, and take ownership of your workspace will make you a standout member of our team.
We're looking for someone who knows their way around custodial tools and techniques, communicates well, and understands basic maintenance principles from previous experience-typically one to two years in a similar role or through apprenticeship‑style training. You'll need the ability to read, write, perform basic math, have or be able to obtain a valid Missouri driver's license, and pass a comprehensive background screening for access to law enforcement facilities.
This role primarily follows a Monday–Friday daytime schedule, with occasional weekends when needed. At our brand‑new facility, you'll have the chance to help shape a clean, organized environment from day one - creating a space the entire community can be proud of. This position offers an hourly pay range of $20.35 to $30.53, with an anticipated starting rate of $20.35 per hour.
