Job Title: Social Emotional Learning Support Specialist
Department: Student Support Services
Reports To: Principal
FLSA Status: Exempt
Education, Licensure and Experience- Valid Professional Educator Licensure (PEL)
- Teaching and/or administrative experience
- Alternative qualifications as approved by the Board
To help students resolve nonacademic problems that impede their academic success and to help them achieve full benefits from the school's nonacademic programs, services, and offerings.
Essential Performance Responsibilities- Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school.
- Share responsibility with the principal for protecting the health and welfare of students.
- Serve as a resource for staff regarding student attendance, development, and discipline concerns.
- Maintain active relationships with parents, families, and students.
- Provide individual counseling and refer students for testing, guidance, or psychological counseling when necessary.
- Resolve discipline problems fairly, keeping records of any disciplinary action taken.
- Interpret school and district programs, policies, and procedures for students, parents, staff, and community.
- Collaborate with community and government agencies on truancy issues.
- Assist in developing and administering practices for campus control and security.
- Assist with campus supervision.
- Consult with parents, teachers, counselors, support staff, and students on student discipline and welfare matters.
- Consult with psychologists, social workers, and other personnel as appropriate.
- Consult with families concerning student attendance and behaviors.
- Hold general supervisory responsibility for student activities, athletic events, orientation programs, and similar activities.
- Respond to written and oral communications regarding student development and discipline matters.
- Perform other duties assigned by the principal.
