POSITION

DESCRIPTION:

The Technology Engineering Education Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction to high schools students while fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment and collaborating with colleagues to ensure academic success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Teach entry level and advanced Technology Engineering Education (Industrial/Applied Technology) courses

* Experience with a variety of student-centered instructional and assessment strategies.

* Experience teaching Production/Construction/Woodworking.

* Experience teaching Advanced Production/Construction/Woodworking.

* Strong communication and classroom management skills.

* Desire to pursue professional growth, develop new methodologies and incorporate them into technology education.

* Ability to aide in the development of curriculum.

* Strong background in OSHA regulations and lab safety.

* Design and deliver standards-based lessons in technical education courses as assigned.

* Create a culturally responsive classroom that respects and celebrates students' diverse backgrounds.

* Integrate current events, primary sources, and technology to enhance student engagement and understanding.

* Workplace experience in the content area (may qualify for Educator License with Stipulations)

SUMMARY AND

PURPOSE:

The Technology and Engineering Teacher serves as an essential instructional leader and collaborative partner within the school community. This role is responsible for transforming the classroom into a dynamic hub of inquiry, fostering a deep-seated culture of learning, and ensuring that students learn in a safe and supportive environment.

EXPECTATIONS:

All employees must adhere to district Board Policy, administrative procedures, and the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CHSD 218 Support Staff Agreement, I.E.A. Local 218). Employees in this role are subject to all relevant Illinois and federal laws governing the education and employment of individuals with disabilities, including IDEA, ADA, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Mandated training requirements must be completed as directed.

Maintain regular communication with students, families, and staff regarding student progress. Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and instructional practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology or a related field.

Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) in Industrial Technology (CTE).

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Placement and step on the licensed staff salary schedule will be determined by experience and qualifications per the CHSD 218/IEA Professional Agreement.

Eligible for full Board-provided employee benefits (health, dental, life insurance, paid leave, and retirement), subject to contract provisions. For coaching or co-curricular positions, additional paid stipends may be available under contract guidelines.
