PreK Paraprofessional (Ridge Lawn)

Start Date for the 2025-26 School Year:
August 18, 2025. Salary: $20-$23/hr based on education.

Qualifications
  • Must have or be eligible for Illinois Paraprofessional Approval.
  • Experience in working with special education students preferred.
  • Experience in working with English learners preferred.
  • Bilingual Arabic preferred.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of correct English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic skills; general office procedures, practices and use of equipment; recreational activities involving sports, games, arts and crafts, and music; pupils with exceptional needs; individual differences of pupils.
  • Record keeping of assessment data.
  • Assist Teacher.
  • Instructional activities.
  • Preparing materials for classroom use.
  • Organizing and directing games and recreational activities both in the classroom and on the playground.
  • Modify class work.
  • Set up equipment and help prepare materials for instruction.
  • Assist Students, including:
    • Take to office or nurse’s office as directed by the teacher.
    • Taking off and putting on clothing upon arrival, at recess, and prior to departure from school.
    • Attend to physical needs as directed by the teacher.
    • Perform exercises or play games.
    • Attend to disabled students’ physical needs, including feeding, toileting, teaching good grooming habits.
  • Communicate and cooperate with colleagues, students, parents, and the community as needed to meet professional standards.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Participate in meetings and perform other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or designee in accordance with the Board of Education.
  • Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
