First American Bank is a community bank with locations in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Florida. The Person al Banker is a mid-level, non-exempt role within the Retail Banking Department. This position services the branch and provides professional customer service across Teller and Banker functions, acting as a needs-based sales professional who understands First American Bank s retail banking products and services.
ResponsibilitiesSales
- Build and retain meaningful relationships with new and existing customers by identifying needs and educating them about the features and benefits of First American Bank personal banking products.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver tailored sales presentations to effectively present products and services to customers.
- Identify and engage in sales conversations with customers and assist them in selecting banking products and services that best meet their needs. Take Home Equity and other retail loan applications, close loans, and refer mortgages to internal partners.
- Partner with other areas of the bank to promote Business Banking, Wealth Management, Treasury Management, and Merchant services.
- Participate in outbound calling, local community events, and other activities to increase market awareness.
- Meet or exceed assigned sales goals.
Service
- Manage customer experience, ensure satisfactory service standards and appropriate resolutions.
- Provide high-level customer experiences by assessing and resolving sensitive issues, including research, transaction review, and directing customers to appropriate resources.
- Utilize tools to analyze customer data and align needs to tailored product/service recommendations. Maintain a pipeline of conversations and opportunities.
- Perform daily personal banking tasks, including opening, maintaining, and closing deposit accounts (consumer, business, and IRAs). Exercise judgment on documentation for transactions and bank capabilities.
- Educate customers on servicing technology such as online and mobile banking.
- Participate in customer service queues to service customers, including research and redirection as needed.
- Provide teller services including balancing, transactions, cash handling, coin orders, and related duties.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Assist in opening and closing branch procedures as needed.
Risk Management
- Identify risks during customer transactions and escalate suspicious activity following compliance and fraud training.
- Participate in internal audits to ensure alignment with bank policies and exemplary customer service standards.
Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent required.
- College degree in business or related field is a plus.
- Comprehensive training and professional development provided to prepare employees with technical and customer service skills.
- Must be able to take loan applications and close loans.
- May require registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).
- Minimum one year of personal banking, customer service, or sales experience required.
- Ability to handle cash transactions and work with US currency.
- Proven track record of sales experience preferred.
- Professional communication skills with external and internal contacts; ability to tailor messages to audience.
- Effective written communication and professional standards in spelling and grammar.
- Maintain professional demeanor and appearance; build good relationships with internal partners.
- Use sound judgment to balance organizational and customer interests and mitigate risks.
- Cold calling sales ability with an assertive, positive, and persistent style.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365; ability to prepare or review documents, procedures, and reports.
- Ability to learn new systems and adapt workflows after system upgrades.
- Occasional travel to other First American Bank locations may be required.
- Typically scheduled for a 36-40 hour work week with shifts Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.; additional hours may be required for phone queues, after-hours meetings, and call nights.
- Punctuality is required to maintain customer service standards.
