Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Demonstrate support for Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123’s Strategic Plan.
- Uphold established Board of Education policies, regulations, and administrative procedures.
- Maintain and improve professional competence; participate in meetings and training as assigned.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; regular attendance and on-site presence are essential.
- Sweep, dust, and mop classrooms, corridors, stairwells, restrooms, offices, and other assigned areas; spot clean floors and surfaces as needed.
- Vacuum carpets and rugs; remove gum, graffiti, and debris from surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms and drinking fountains; refill soap/towel/toilet paper dispensers; wash mirrors, tile, fixtures, and partitions.
- Empty and reline interior and exterior waste/recycling receptacles; transport trash to designated collection points/dumpsters.
- Exterior touch‑up: sweep entrances/walkways adjacent to assigned areas; pick up litter as needed.
- Perform minor repairs such as tightening screws on desks/chairs, replacing shade cords, and replacing light bulbs when accessible and safe.
- Set up and break down areas for special events/activities as directed; keep custodial closets neat, stocked, and organized.
- Use and care for custodial equipment properly; keep equipment clean and report repair needs promptly.
- Note any misuse of the building or unsafe conditions and report immediately to the Day Custodian and Principal.
- Report major repairs or hazards beyond the scope of minor fixes to the Day/Night Custodian and Principal.
- Lock/unlock assigned doors/windows and turn lights on/off as directed; follow building security and key/alarm procedures.
- Follow universal precautions and safe work practices, including proper handling/storage of cleaning chemicals and use of PPE.
- Perform special projects as requested by the Day/Night Custodian or Principal (e.g., spot shampooing, high/low dusting, seasonal tasks).

Non‑Bargaining - $15.00 per hour - Schedule:
Assigned based on building needs (hours may vary by site and season; typically outside of the core student day). - Work Year:
As assigned (school year and/or summer hours may be offered based on need).
Performance will be evaluated by the Director of Buildings & Grounds (Operations) or designee, and/or the Building Principal, in accordance with Board policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
