DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring an active IL RN license and 2-3 years of acute care experience.
Details- Surgery Room unit with 28 beds, including 2 hybrid rooms for CV/Vascular cases
- Outpatient, inpatient, and trauma patient types including GSW, stabbings, transplants (kidney, heart), donor cases, general, GYN, urology, robotics, vascular, ortho, neuro, and open hearts/CABGs
- Hybrid room sees 5-10 cases per day including TAVR, AAA, endarterectomies, angiograms, and fistula revisions (adults only)
- 20% pediatric caseload including open hearts, appendectomies, and cholecystectomies
- No liver or lung transplant cases
- Participates in Gifts of Hope cases
- EMR: EPIC (experience required)
- IV Pump:
Alaris - No floating required
- Various shift options available including 8hr and 12hr shifts, night shift 10:45p-7:15a
- 6-week rotation-based schedule provided 2-4 weeks in advance
- No self-scheduling; staff assigned based on rotation needs
- OR operates 24/7, 365 days a year with skeleton crew coverage overnight and after hours on weekends
- On-call required, dependent on shift/service line, with 3 call shifts in a 6-week period and 30-minute response time
- Sleeping room available for on-call staff
- Active IL RN license required
- BLS certification required
- 2-3 years of acute care experience required
- Ability to scrub and circulate required
- Critical care experience preferred
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Minimum 12 months of core OR experience within the last year
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Candidate's middle name or initial required for consideration
- Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
- Perform scrub and circulating duties for a wide range of surgical specialties including trauma, transplant, cardiovascular, and pediatric cases
- Support team includes charge nurse, resource nurse, anesthesiologist, surgeons, ANM, educators, service line reps, and EPIC super-users
- Orientation includes meeting educators and ANM, system login access, online modules, and EPIC training on day one, followed by unit orientation
- Holiday coverage required, including 1 winter and 1 summer holiday
- All RTO requests must be submitted via email to the manager
- Scrubs provided by facility
- Free parking available
- First-time travelers accepted
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
- Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for a travel assignment
