The Village of Oak Park, a dynamic community located just eight miles west of Downtown Chicago, is seeking a collaborative and innovative Neighborhood Code Compliance Manager to join our well‑rounded team. This leadership role administers the Village’s Property Maintenance Code and serves as the Chief Property Maintenance Inspector to ensure that neighborhoods are well cared for.

The ideal applicant will have a strong background in techniques to drive compliance with property maintenance issues, with prior inspection and supervisory experience preferred. Operational execution, relationship building, and strategic thinking will be key competencies in the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Village’s property maintenance inspection program, including proactive inspections for multifamily properties, short‑term rentals, condominiums, and exterior issues, as well as reactive inspections due to resident complaints.
  • Serve as the Chief Property Maintenance Inspector.
  • Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience in code enforcement, civil engineering, architecture, or construction management, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain the International Code Council (ICC) Certification for the International Property Maintenance Code within one (1) year of employment and maintain the necessary certifications and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) during this position.
  • Strong knowledge of effective property maintenance programs.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and foster relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
