Position: Assistant Art Teacher Magical Minds Studio $17-$19hr

Magical Minds Studio is a community-focused Art Studio dedicated to fostering creativity, self-expression, and confidence in learners of all ages. The Studio offers a range of classes, workshops, and camps that explore diverse art forms, techniques, and materials. Programs are designed to be engaging, inclusive, and accessible, supporting both beginners and more experienced artists. Team members collaborate to create a welcoming environment where students feel encouraged to experiment, learn, and grow artistically.

Role Description

This is a part-time, on-site Assistant Art Teacher role based in Oak Park, IL. The Assistant will help execute prepared lessons for art classes for children and/or tweens. Demonstrating techniques and guiding students through projects in a supportive, encouraging manner. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson materials and supplies, setting up and cleaning the Studio, and adapting instruction to different ages and skill levels.

The role also involves communicating with caregivers or guardians as needed, maintaining a safe and inclusive studio environment, and collaborating with Studio staff on class schedules, special events, and student showcases.

Qualifications
  • The ability to engage diverse learners and manage small groups effectively.
  • Experience in painting, drawing and related visual art techniques, with the ability to demonstrate methods clearly and safely. Ceramics and sewing a plus!
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, team mindset and commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful learning environment.
  • Prior experience teaching art in a Studio, school, camp, or community setting is preferred.
  • Background or degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Education, or a related field is an asset.
  • Ability to work on-site in Oak Park, IL during afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends as needed.
  • Willingness to follow all Studio safety, child protection, and operational policies; CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is beneficial.
  • Agree to full background check.
