Job Title: Harmony Director

Reports to: Director of Student Activities

Terms and Conditions: Part-time, 3-5 hours per week, during the school year.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: Per Faculty Senate contract, level 4 stipend, 1.0 FTE - $6,250.75

Position Summary

Harmony is a choir that primarily sings traditional and contemporary gospel style songs that inspire and bring about positive energy. For the past 40 years, Harmony/Gospel Choir has been a big part of the school and community. Auditions are not required. Students who participate in Harmony will learn beginning, intermediate and/or advanced concepts including style, harmony and dissonance, vocal improvisation and microphone technique.

Interested students should have an interest in singing inspirational music and be able to work cooperatively with others. Students will participate in all school events such as the MLK assembly and other cultural events. Students may also be asked to participate in community events as needed.

Qualifications
  • Experience leading or teaching students.
  • Experience as a vocal coach and choir director.
  • Experience leading or teaching students to sing by ear.
  • Ability to recruit and maintain diverse membership
  • Experience in Inspirational musical Performance and Directing
  • Ability to meet sponsor expectations as stated in Student Activities Sponsor Handbook.
  • Organized and have a positive attitude.
  • Collaborative.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow Sponsor Expectations per handbook.
  • Direct the students with various skill levels in musical performance.
  • Participation in assemblies and events.
  • Competitions as appropriate.
  • Delegate to assistant directors.
  • Position Responsibilities
  • 3-5 hours per week.
  • Oversee students at all rehearsals, performances, and field trips.
  • Be a vocal coach for the choir throughout rehearsals.
  • Attend all concerts and required school events.
  • Collaborate with the assistant director.
  • Attend Sponsor Meetings and meet expectations given by the Student Activities Director.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
