Special Education Teacher - Oak Park, Illinois

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a special education classroom for 4th and 5th graders this upcoming school year. This vital role will provide coverage for FMLA leave from August 24 through November 20, working with a small group of eight students in an instructional setting. A collaborative team approach is at the heart of this classroom, featuring four dedicated teacher assistants to help create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

• Valid Special Education teaching certification
• Experience teaching in special education settings, preferably at the elementary level
• Strong classroom management and differentiation skills
• Ability to foster a positive and inclusive environment for diverse learners
• Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities

• Provide direct instruction to a classroom of 4th and 5th grade students with varying abilities and needs
• Collaborate regularly with four teacher assistants to adapt lessons and activities
• Assess student progress, document outcomes, and communicate regularly with families and staff
• Maintain an organized, safe, and nurturing learning space
• Implement IEPs and behavior management plans with consistency
• Participate in educational meetings or professional development as needed throughout the coverage period
