About This Role

District 97 seeks a dedicated and dynamic full-time English Language Arts teacher to join our team. The teacher will support the instructional process as an instructional leader, supervise students within the classroom and assigned areas, develop lesson plans, deliver group and individual instruction within established curriculum guidelines, collaborate with other teachers and administrators, and respond to inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional programs and student progress in support of the districts equity commitments as expressed in Board Policy 7:12:

Content Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Teaching classes based on the C3 Framework:
    Engage students in challenging content through inquiry-based learning with opportunities for civic engagement, social responsibility, cultural awareness, and financial literacy. Design and implement effective curriculum, lessons, and activities aligned to Illinois Learning Standards. Utilize current and emerging technologies as learning/teaching resources.
  • Individualized Instruction:
    Provide differentiated instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
    Develop and administer assessments, monitor progress, and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Collaboration:

    Work with teachers, administrators, and support staff to create a cohesive educational experience.
  • Parent and Community Engagement:
    Communicate about student progress, organize conferences, and participate in school events.
  • Cultural Sensitivity:
    Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and foster an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Professional Development:
    Stay current with best practices and engage in ongoing learning to enhance teaching skills.
  • Classroom Management:
    Establish a positive, structured classroom that promotes a love for learning and mutual respect.
Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education
  • Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsements in secondary education & language arts
  • Experience with middle school students preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment
Physical Requirements

This position requires light work with objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently. It includes close visual acuity, frequent talking and hearing, walking, standing, and occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. The role may involve stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity in a non-hazardous environment.
