Step into a fulfilling contract opportunity working with elementary students as a full-time 5th grade co-teacher in special education. This position is based near Oak Park, IL, and offers the chance to make a direct impact on the lives of students in a collaborative and supportive environment.
This assignment runs from October 1, 2026, through June 2027, with weekly hours totaling between 35 and 37, ensuring a consistent schedule throughout the school year. Youll work closely with a small caseload of 6 students (possibly
7), providing specialized instruction and support in an inclusive elementary classroom setting.
Experience:
- Valid PEL LBS1 credential required
- Previous experience teaching special education at the elementary level preferred
- Strong collaboration skills to partner effectively with general education teachers and support staff
- Ability to create and implement differentiated instruction plans that address individual education program (IEP) goals
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment for every student
- Co-teach with a general education teacher in a 5th grade classroom
- Deliver accommodations and modifications based on individual student IEPs
- Support students academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in IEP meetings
- Communicate regularly with families and team members to ensure student success
