Overview:

The Building Attendant - CRC is a Part-Time Position. We offer competitive compensation, PTO and an employee discount for part-time employees.

Hours:

Thursdays - Sundays - closing shifts (Thu./Fri. 6pm-10pm, Sun. 2pm-5pm) Preferably Evenings & Weekends needed.

Job Purpose:
To provide support and assistance to ensure the efficient operation of the daily activities at our recreation facility. Building supervisors provide customer service support, address participant concerns and assist with facility programming. This position provides guidance when other facility leadership man is not readily available.

Essential Functions:
  • Enforce rules, regulations, and policies at assigned facility.
  • Conduct facility walk throughs to maintain safety and security.
  • Help with room set-ups and breakdowns; proactively ensure rooms are clean and set-up properly before an activity is scheduled to begin.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by fielding member and participant suggestions, concerns, and complaints in a positive and understanding manner; provide follow-up and resolution as required.
  • Provide front desk and customer service support.
  • Operate equipment and troubleshoot issues with equipment as needed.
  • Complete all facility and equipment inspections as required.
  • Monitor the use of the facility based on the facility schedule; may conduct opening and/or closing of the building in accordance with procedures; ensure building is set up and ready for operation.
  • Maintain facility and grounds performing janitorial responsibilities including but not limited to cleaning bathrooms, locker rooms, windows, floors, etc.
  • Act as a fitness floor, gym floor or play zone staff as needed.
  • Report any work-related or patron injuries or incidents to supervisor and/or Risk Management
  • Become familiar with patrons; know their names, personalities, skills, and interests: build a rapport.
  • Inventory and monitor first aid kit supplies; requisition supplies as needed.
  • Inventory and monitor gym supplies; requisition supplies as needed.
  • Perform maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Wear PDOP uniform at all times.
Additional Functions:
  • Assist with events and programs.
  • Attend staff meetings and training programs as specified.
  • Assist in snow removal operations as needed.
  • Ensure self and operations staff engage in consistent and frequent communication with patrons regarding facility rules, safety, and other pertinent information.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor or other Park District administrative personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Work Experience Required:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or GED required, some college preferred.
  • Certification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 1 month of employment and keep certification current. The District provides this training.
  • Supervisor experience preferred.
  • Knowledge, experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer applications; ability to learn and use required Park District Software systems.
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills and the ability to interact with others effectively.
  • Must be able to complete required Park District training.
  • Must have the ability to work with participants of all ages, when necessary, enforce facility rules, and make sound decisions in order to secure the safety and well-being of all visitors, facilities, and equipment.

Work Environment, Physical Demands and Considerations:
  • Frequent walking, running, standing, reaching, bending.
  • Frequent use of brooms, mops, floor scrubbers.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without an accommodation.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize to ensure all tasks are completed.
  • Ability to direct staff effectively and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to present ideas and recommendations in a clear, concise manner.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently and effectively and to read and understand printed material.
