Job SummaryGrocery Clerks are responsible for ensuring the grocery section of the store is well-stocked for our customers. S/he must assist in receiving, storing, and stocking of products while guaranteeing proper product rotation and quality. S/he must be familiar with store products and their location in order to assist customers in finding items. As a PFM team member is able to exemplify Pete’s Four Pillars of Value, Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing all guests with exceptional customer service.
- Ensure all service standards are frequently met and often exceed company expectations.
- Possess knowledge and training on how to effectively use a scan gun and stock grocery department shelves.
- Rotate and monitor expiry dates on products and signs, stock and face products, build displays, and handle damages and credits per policy.
- Complete stocking and cleanup duties efficiently and timely.
- Assist with store operations such as cleaning or hanging signs as needed.
- Assist with back‑stock and ensure timely return of all items.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0‑3 years of experience in a grocery store or similar retail environment.
- Valid and up‑to‑date Food Handler’s Certificate.
- Knowledge of department functions.
- Provide and model exceptional customer service.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers, leadership, and teammates.
- Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, capable of working independently or in groups.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push/pull up to 100 lbs., lift up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
- Ability to enter coolers and freezers and withstand frequent temperature changes.
- Occasional high stress when dealing with systems/customers/staff.
- Work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed for staffing.
- Reliable transportation required.

Starting hourly rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and will vary based on location, experience, and qualifications. All positions are eligible for overtime, and some positions will have guaranteed overtime available.
Hourly rate for Suburban Stores is $15‑$18
Hourly rate for City of Chicago Stores is $16.60‑$18
