The Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for assisting with oversight of vehicles and properties owned and/or managed by Emory Valley Center, under the direction of the Maintenance and Transportation Manager. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician supports the Maintenance and Transportation Manager and the Facilities Department by ensuring compliance with both internal and external regulations while maintaining continuity of operations. This role actively participates, facilitates, and contributes to the organization’s ongoing mission to build and strengthen our internal culture with compassion, forward thinking, quality, value, and respect for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging to enhance the lives of those we serve.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Manage any concerns related to Maintenance and Transportation for EVC and communicate information with the Maintenance and Transportation Manager.
- Respond to vehicle emergencies such as breakdowns and out-of-service vehicles.
- Perform maintenance and repairs for all EVC buildings and grounds, coordinating with vendors and contractors as needed to maintain an acceptable appearance. Assist in quality oversight of contracted maintenance and foster strong relationships with local code officials.
- Identify and schedule necessary work in alignment with budget guidelines and priorities, while maintaining comprehensive maintenance records for all properties and vehicles.
- Able to move furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or using hand trucks; as well as set up, arrange equipment for events.
- Complete all maintenance-related documentation and paperwork for EVC and funding sources, ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines regarding sensitive material and individuals’ right to privacy.
- Utilize electronic software and systems essential for Company operations, directing and assigning tasks to maintenance technicians to ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance and Transportation Manager, Facilities Director and President.
- High School diploma or equivalent with additional industry certifications preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- A minimum of two years of directly related hands‑on maintenance experience is required.
- Department of Disability and Aging/Managed Care Organizations designated online training and any other required training.
- Emory Valley Center Orientation.
- Valid Tennessee driver’s license and good driving record.
- Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
- Ability to prioritize with excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work with people in a variety of positions.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain safety in all environments.
- Basic understanding of intellectual and developmental disabilities and the ability to work with people in their homes.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel.
- Basic understanding of repair and construction practices associated with tools and equipment, as well as fundamental knowledge of vehicle repair.
