Supervisor of Building and Grounds (1.0 FTE). This is a 12-month position with responsibility for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and overall operation of the Lakeview School District facilities and grounds.
Description About Lakeview SchoolsOur district serves over 750 students (preK-12) and employs 100+ employees in Southwest, Minnesota. We have newly constructed and renovated facilities, including classrooms and extra-curricular spaces. Position Overview & Responsibilities Facilities Management- Oversee the daily operations and long-term maintenance of all district buildings and grounds, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans and schedules.
- Respond to facility-related emergencies and coordinate timely resolutions.
- Ensure proper upkeep of the school campus including parking lots, sidewalks, athletic fields, and outdoor spaces.
- Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and major maintenance work.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate custodial and maintenance personnel.
- Coordinate work schedules and approve time off to ensure adequate staffing coverage.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to assigned staff.
- Plan and coordinate facility projects, renovations, and repairs.
- Work with contractors, engineers, and architects as necessary.
- Solicit and review bids according to district purchasing procedures.
- Monitor project timelines, quality of work, and compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Ensure all facilities meet federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate inspections, fire drills, water testing, and radon monitoring.
- Maintain safety documentation including Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and OSHA-related records.
- Serve as the district lead for indoor air quality and integrated pest management plans.
- Develop and manage the annual buildings and grounds budget.
- Track expenditures and authorize purchases for maintenance and custodial supplies.
Work with the superintendent on long-term capital improvement planning.
Facility Use & Equipment Management- Maintain a facility calendar to ensure staffing and cleaning needs are met.
- Oversee district maintenance equipment, snow removal equipment, and grounds machinery.
Coordinate regular servicing and repairs of equipment.

Requirements & QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Minnesota driver's license.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance.
- Experience supervising custodial or maintenance staff in a school or institutional setting.
- Familiarity with safety compliance systems and building codes.
- Experience with facility management software or computerized maintenance management systems.
- Experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for students, staff, and the community
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform physical maintenance tasks.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and industrial maintenance environments.
Occasional evening or weekend hours for emergencies or special events.
Salary & BenefitsCompetitive salary and benefits package. Salary range listed ($48,000-$62,000) dependent on experience and qualifications.
