Janitor-Unskilled; U; Part Time

Job Summary

The Maintenance/Janitor (Unskilled) position is responsible for performing janitorial/maintenance duties within the Oakland Arena‑Alameda County Coliseum. Starting at $20.50 per hour.

• Perform routine maintenance duties such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, sinks, countertops, refrigerators; dust and clean interior windowsills/windows; empty trash cans, replace liners, clean receptacles, recycle as instructed.
• Use industrial chemicals and equipment to clean a variety of surfaces.
• Finish all assigned work within allotted time and in a satisfactory manner.
• Notify leads and/or supervisors of any incomplete or neglected cleaning tasks.
• Leave all work areas clean and orderly.
• Adhere to AEG policies and procedures, company‑wide sustainability initiatives, and comply with ASM/OCJV/CalOSHA safety policies and procedures.
• Work irregular extended hours, including nights (graveyard shifts), weekends, and holidays.

• Drive tractors (tugger) and trucks safely; push and pull full 3‑yard containers over uneven ground; operate street sweepers, floor scrubbers; maintain equipment and report damages.
• Bin Yard Crew: push and pull full containers, hoist 40–60 pounds, sort cardboard and compost, operate a 20‑yard compactor, clean bin yard each shift, communicate with equipment operators.
• Window Washer: use window‑cleaning techniques, work with a 40‑foot tucker pole, restore calcium‑etched windows, operate hydraulic lifts up to 80‑feet, set up scaffolding, ensure windows closed and lights off after tasks.
• Painting & Repair: paint all surface types, match appropriate sealers and paints, strip surfaces, repair drywall including mudding and texturing.
• Carpet Cleaner: operate carpet extractors, use proper chemicals for carpets and upholstery, address water damage and restoration.
• Floor Waxer: properly use floor stripper and waxing chemicals; operate buffers, speed buffers, and auto scrubbers; reset rooms after cleaning.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of related work experience.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning products and techniques, or willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to lift and/or carry items up to 100 pounds.
• Physical demands: heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, crawling, equipment operation; able to work indoors and outdoors in adverse conditions.

• Valid California driver’s license (required for Equipment Operator).
• Clean driving record.
• Forklift certification (required for Equipment Operator).
