Why join the City of Oakland Public Works Department? The City of Oakland is currently recruiting to fill multiple Sewer Maintenance Leader vacancies in the Public Works Department. This job classification is in the Sewers/Drainage division. Incumbents perform a variety of routine maintenance duties and oversee small crews of sewer maintenance workers while working with sewers and storm drains. The Sewer Maintenance Leader receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor I.

- Implement legal and federal regulations for sewer and storm drain repairs and maintenance.
What you will typically be responsible for:
- Leading a small crew to perform sewer maintenance.
- Transporting personnel to and from project sites.
- Inspecting tools and equipment for safety.
- Inspecting, cleaning, and repairing sewer and sanitary systems.
- Removing debris and sewage from sewer lines.

Any combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the following minimum qualifications is acceptable.
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Experience: Three years of experience in public works maintenance work.
License or Certificate / Other Requirements
Possession of a valid California Driver's License, Class B, with the ability to drive vehicles with air brakes and a tank endorsement included to be maintained throughout employment with the City of Oakland. License requirements are subject to changes in State and Federal law, and the City of Oakland must comply with mandated changes at all times.
