Expected starting wage is $22.6694. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and is subject to union membership requirements upon hire.

POSITION OBJECTIVEThe Maintenance Worker is the staff member that performs tasks that involve the facility physical plant, equipment and grounds maintenance. These duties encompass a variety of carpentry, electrical and environmental services assignments.
QUALIFICATIONSTwo (2) years of experience as a building maintenance worker, handyperson, boiler worker or in a related position is required. Experience in a health care setting is preferred. High School graduation or a G.E.D. is also required. Necessary skills include knowledge of and ability to perform in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, masonry and electrical, heating and air conditioning repair. Ability to read, write and speak English is essential, as is willingness to work with adult mentally impaired persons.
The incumbent must have a valid Class II California Driver's License and be insurable. Applicant must be fingerprinted and receive clearance from Criminal Justice Department.
- Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with clients, the public and other staff members.
- Performs tasks correctly and according to policies and procedures.
- Maintains temperature control between 72-74 degrees and logs heat data.
- Checks and logs boilers, water temperature, exit lights and other facility lights, replacing as needed.
- Completes all sheetrock repairs within one week of damage.
- Responds to all work requisitions, completing the requested task and the associated paperwork.
- Completes preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled and assigned.
- Checks and cleans facility vehicles each week.
- Responds to immediate maintenance and repair problems; participates in alternating on‑call schedule for emergencies.
- Participates as a team member and provides input via reporting observations, concerns and asking appropriate questions.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Professional Assault Response Training (PART) principles and uses PART concepts to manage aggressive behavior.
- Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrates a good rapport and cooperative working relationships with all members of the team; responds to co‑workers with concern and promotes group morale.
- Continually focuses on assigned tasks and seeks and implements improvements as necessary.
- Understands and demonstrates the safety program in all activities.
- Demonstrates a knowledge of Telecare's customers including clients, families and governmental agencies in all interactions and conduct.
- Acts in a professional manner, always demonstrating respect and understanding of the community and neighborhood when representing Telecare in the community.
- Completes and follows through with tasks and assignments, meeting expected deadlines.
- Understands and demonstrates knowledge of all policies associated with attendance.
- Attends all assigned in‑service education classes.
