As an Electrical Supervisor, you will play a key role in keeping our city running smoothly by overseeing a team of Electricians who install and maintain essential infrastructure like traffic signals, streetlights, and other public electrical systems that directly affect residents' daily lives. You will need to promptly address requests from other departments, engineers, and residents, communicate when work cannot be completed immediately, and follow up with updates and results. - Organized:
You will need to maintain accurate records, ensure required documentation is complete and up to date, and oversee the recordkeeping of others. - Tech-Savvy:
You will be expected to stay current with new technology, tools, and methods and incorporate them into your work when appropriate. - Thorough:
You will need to pay close attention to details, stay organized, follow tasks through to completion, and ensure commitments and responsibilities are not left unfinished.
What you will typically be responsible for:
- Coordinating with staff and outside contractors to ensure electrical work is properly planned and completed.
- Scheduling daily and swing-shift assignments, standby coverage, and after-hours response to ensure adequate staffing.
- Collaborating with the other supervisors to coordinate work, address challenges, and achieve shared department goals.
- Assigning work orders and service requests, monitoring progress, and reviewing completed work in Cityworks to ensure requests are properly addressed and documented.
- Managing employee timecard entries, tracking expenditures, and monitoring the unit's budget and resources.
- Conducting employee performance reviews, addressing performance concerns, and handling employee relations matters.
- Ordering and tracking materials, tools, equipment, and other supplies while monitoring inventory levels and assessing future needs.
- Training and mentoring employees on work procedures, equipment, safety practices, and other skills needed to perform their jobs effectively.
