Lead Custodian III

Overview

Personnel Commission announces an open and promotional recruitment resulting in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. The list will be used to fill vacancies at El Camino High School, where one eight‑hour/day, twelve‑month position is currently open. The role includes leading custodial staff and ensuring a clean, sanitary, secure, and safe facility.

• Plan, coordinate, assign, and oversee skilled custodial services and routine maintenance at the high school site.
• Provide work direction for custodial employees and maintain assigned buildings and adjacent grounds.
• Arrange and assist in maintaining the physical environment required for school activities.

• High school graduation and at least two years of responsible custodial or maintenance experience, preferably with supervisory duties.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, techniques, materials, equipment, and safety related practices.
• Familiarity with school site maintenance, health and safety regulations, PPE use, and storage practices.
• Experience with inventory, record‑keeping, and operation of computers/mobile devices.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, proper lifting techniques, and interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
• Ability to coordinate work schedules, perform heavy manual labor, work independently, oversee staff, plan and assign tasks, operate specialized tools, identify safety hazards, and maintain records.
• Proficiency in communicating with diverse groups and individuals.
