Corrosion Service Teams (CSTs) provide organizational level Corrosion Prevention and Control (CPAC) services defined by Marine Corps Technical Manual 4795-OR/1A. A valued member of the CST, the CST Team Lead (TL) is responsible of the management and supervision of a team or teams and their assigned work. The job description of a CST TL involves the management of the CPAC CST program policies, procedures, and personnel assigned to the team, the supervision of preventive maintenance, the ability to lead a work team or teams, effectively communicate, and display strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Description:

CST TLs are responsible for leading, supervising, and directing work of a team or teams. CST TLs have a working knowledge of all CPAC policies, procedures, responsibilities, and billets within the CST. A CST TL inspects, assesses, categorizes, and services military and support equipment utilizing paper and/or electronic checklists. CST TLs are trained to perform and inspect surface preparation and touch-up painting, the application of corrosion prevention compounds (CPCs), and the conduct of routine maintenance on application equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a CPAC CST Team Lead:
  • Maintain and periodically review all applicable CPAC program publications and policy letters to ensure a working knowledge of requirements and all assigned personnel understand and comply with these requirements.
  • Ensure applicable safety procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are followed in accordance with OSHA regulations by all team members.
  • Ensure the uniformity of CST team member appearance and the wear of clothing provided by employer.
  • Inspect, evaluate, and make corrections, as necessary for work accomplished by the CST team.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets for all products used by the CST team.
  • Conduct and maintain monthly inventory of accountable items assigned to the CPAC CST and requisition items as necessary.
  • Conduct and maintain a biweekly inventory of hazmat materials (CPCs, Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (CARC) paint, etc.) needed to perform servicing and requisition as necessary.
  • Ensure all accountable items are clean and operational.
  • Manage, conduct, and track CST team weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual training.
  • Complete and submit all reporting requirements on time.
  • On occasion, conduct CST operations; apply Corrosion Prevention Compounds (CPCs) and operate surface preparation and touchup equipment; compressors, application guns, grinders, vacuums, HVLP spray guns, etc.
  • Accurately identify Marine Corps Corrosion Category Codes 1-5, the 4 stages of corrosion, and the correlation between category codes and stages of corrosion.
  • Perform equipment corrosion assessments using a paper copy of the Marine Corps CPAC Program Corrosion Assessment Checklist (CAC).
  • Perform equipment corrosion assessments using an electronic version of the CAC.
  • On occasion, perform routine maintenance of CPAC equipment.
  • Travel as required to perform the duties of the position.
  • Hold or be capable of passing a background check to receive identification credentials through the Defense Biometric Identification System.
  • Hold or be capable of obtaining a Secret clearance.
  • Must have a US Passport, Real , or a driver's license and social security card/original-notarized birth certificate (this is for base access).
  • Possess knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify mistakes and direct corrective action plans.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and delegate tasks.
  • Able to communicate effectively.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license.
Physical Requirements and

Working Conditions:
  • During short-durations, CST TLs may be required to lift to 50 pounds safely.
  • During long-durations, CST TLs may be required to mount and dismount military and support equipment of varying heights safely.
